Confession: I can't tell a joke.
I don't know how, OK? I've ruined punchlines. Normally I speak fairly well: consistent voice, confident tone, and hyper-aware of my audience. But I stutter and stammer over the punch line of a joke. What's worse is, I love corny jokes. The corniest jokes are the best. Especially silly kids jokes.
Children tell jokes and they can barely contain themselves. Their whole body is in on the laugh. The happiness inside them wants to be shared. I'd like to think that's why I can't tell a joke. Because my giggle wants to come out and play.
